At the end of June, after spending months working an “essential” job during the COVID-19 pandemic and coming home with not much with much of the world on lock down, we decided to take a family trip out to Lake Murray to get outside, away from other people and back in nature. What could be better than a cold drink on the water, out in the sun with the ones you love, with nothing on the schedule but time to yourself? The answer is nothing.

I think it’s about time to post about my first wedding video. “First” as in the first time that I was the videographer for someone else’s wedding. My actual first was for my own wedding, but I’ll probably not show that one just yet. :)

My good friend and extremely talented wedding photographer, Lexi Hoebing, was one of two witnesses for Jess and my elopement in Colorado, and after I completed our wedding video I showed it to her. I guess it looked like I had some cinematography chops, since she asked if I’d like to come with her to shoot a wedding.

Back when I was attempting to be a brilliant social media influencer long before that term existed, I got my hands on my dad’s old Pentax 35mm. I took photos of anything and everything, with whatever film I could get ahold of. I remember capturing the most perfectly composed, colored, and interesting photo that had ever been taken of a family pet — and being so proud that I was now a master-photographer.
